Little breakthrough with mom on the phone today. She's aware, at least somewhat, as most people are, of how bad the economy is right now and how screwed people who don't already have property are. She said that "we should all live like the Hutterites, just take care of each other instead of always chasing a profit." I told her yeah, that's the idea behind #
communism. She thought I was insulting it.
I told her, nah, I support it. That if you talk to older people who lived in the Soviet Union, they'll tell you that's basically how things were then. She said, "Yes, that's true. It did work well back then, we should bring that back."
It gave me a little bit of hope. This is the same woman who followed every single anti-vax conspiracy under the sun. Maybe there's class consciousness out there yet to be gained.
