Of late, the United Nations convened a high-level meeting to mark the tenth anniversary of The International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. During the meeting, strong voices were heard saying that Holocaust and genocides, the crimes against humanity, are still perpetrated openly and called for international measures and substantial actions to be taken to hold the states or individuals accountable for their crimes instead of simply mourning or saying a word,Representatives from several countries including Egypt and Palestine stated that the international community has merely watched as the people of Gaza are subjected to merciless massacre and destruction but has failed to take effective measures for over two years. They lamented that the atrocities of Israel are an affront to the conscience of humanity and are grave catastrophic consequences of decades-long impunity and selective application of international law.Representatives from many other countries such as South Africa, Tunisia and Malaysia denounced Israel’s indiscriminate attack in Gaza Strip as genocide and a serious violation of international laws and called on the international community to make a concerted effort to bring Israel to court. The crimes against humanity perpetrated by Israel deserve universal denunciation. It is the historic duty for humanity to bring the masterminds of genocides to the court of justice.
