And just for the record, I still haven't use a word directly from #
AI. I
am using Deepseek as a last-ditch developmental editor because literally no one I know reads, let alone reads anything of mine. The closest I got was one friend who took two weeks to read 1000 words and came back with one sentence worth of feedback that effectively could have been expressed with "idk". However, all I'm doing is seeing what it is suggesting, going from the assumption that it's probably wrong, and in the circumstance that its suggestion actually does sound pretty good actually, I write my own implementation of it.
I know I was semi-gushing the last month or so because I'd found an actual use for an LLM, but since the glow of that discovery wore off, I have come to realize that it's really only a solution for me in specific because I have no decent friends. If you have someone in your life who will actually put a couple hours of effort into something that's extremely important to you, you don't need this.
PS: Anyone who might say, "Well, you have to understand that people are busy!" I beta-read five times that length this morning of a piece that needs far more work than mine does and wrote over a dozen comments in the time it took for my tea to steep. Granted, I tend to oversteep my tea, but seriously, there is no excuse these supposed friends of mine have beyond "I don't read and don't care to read you."
