Trying out #
NixOS on a VM. It still seems like...a lot
There's just no way about it that installing software is a pain, and the community makes the old Arch community look tolerable. "Well, it depends on what you mean by 'installing', you need to change the way in which you think of how software is managed on a system" fuuuuuuck off
Unsure if it's ready for daily driving. From what I can tell, I have to first search for what the software is actually called, then add it manually into configuration.nix, and then run the switch command. Which is fine for a toy, something you want to see all the inner workings of, but it isn't all that convenient for just using your device.
Also I guess it pulls stuff right from Github and builds it? which would explain how its repo can be so massive. Anyone have any input as to why that would be more secure than the AUR? #
