It's really funny seeing these news outlets talking about all these efforts by Kim Jong-Un to phase out the cult of personality of his father and grandfather to most absolutely definitely increase his own cult of personality. Day of the Sun? Not called that anymore. Music praising Kim Jong-Il? Played less. Changes to the political language referring to leaders by name? That too. Let's see what he's doing in its place:

These 'experts' saying that he's doing it to build his own cult doesn't understand the first thing about how cults of personality work within a dynasty or dynastic transition of power.
It does make me wonder if the #
DPRK is slowly engaging in the next stage of Juche construction in which the masses are fully realized as their own masters and the role of political leadership is gradually diminished. I could be totally off-base, but it's interesting to think about.
