Hey #
wotw, we're back.
Here's what happened:
Thursday: I got a robot call from the electrical company telling me they'd be by to swap out my meter, that this would cause a power outage, and...nothing else. Not when it would happen, not anything.
Friday, 10am: I left for the weekend for a Halloween party.
Friday, 11am: I check my phone and my server is down. Wonderful.
Sunday: I get home to the smell of ozone. My webserver is fucked. The VA image is borked, or the Management Engine, or something else that no system today actually uses but this one refuses to live without, and cannot actually be fixed. I spend the evening trying anyway.
Monday: Gave up, brought in the old server to be recycled, salvaging the HDD, of course. Turns out the recycling place had a server with
three times the RAM and twice the processing power of my old one...for $37. Even the guy at the counter was suspicious of it, but now it's in my home and, as you can see, it's working.
