Fediverse is always free. It always will be free. Every government on the entire planet could literally outlaw the Fediverse and it would still be around, and still be free. You can't stop decentralized media; it'd be like banning having a computer — and that's probably what they would have to do if they wanted to even put a dent in us.
Get off your corporate platform before it implodes and find yourself a nice Fediverse instance today! You commies and anarchists can come join mine at hub.workersofthe.world , but there are awesome instances out there for everyone, whether you want to join a simple general regional one like mstdn.ca or a silly dragon-themed one like derg.social . It doesn't matter, they all federate, but it gives you a nice starting point that you can feel at home in, and that isn't owned by a corporation that's "forced" to do evil shit by an evil government. If you still feel analysis paralysis, hit me up; I can probably find somewhere perfect for you and be your friend to ease you into the non-algorithmic experience.
