From a member of one of the communities that did take what I had to say seriously, despite being nominally apolitical:
One small thing everyone can do in the meantime instead of worrying about the big stuff: just keep being furry and/or queer. Don't let other people scare you away from being who you are. Keep posting art and cat emojis and pictures of your fursuit. Do what makes you happy.
