Friendica's down right now cuz I'm needing to use the reverse proxy on the host. It's the only host I've got that has the ports open to run it, and it's a piece of crap and needs all the resources it can get. That having been said, I have finally pinned down and resolved the non-federation issue, if albeit not in an ideal way. Hopefully it can be resolved entirely soon enough.
